These Are My Twisted Words

This is Radiohead’s brand new, recently released piece of music, rumored to be a part of one of their next EP projects that will be out this Fall. (Thom Yorke hinted to the press that Radiohead will be moving away from albums to do a series of EP releases.) You can download the song for free from the band’s site here. Just wanted to point out that the very beginning of the song is quite reminiscent of the beginning of The National Anthem.

Harry Patch (In Memory Of)

On 5 August 2009, Radiohead released the song “Harry Patch (In Memory Of)”, in tribute to the recently deceased Harry Patch, the last surviving soldier to have fought in the trenches of the First World War. The song was sold direct from Radiohead’s website for £1, with proceeds donated to the British Legion.

Please go and download the song here. It’s only $1, it goes to a good cause and it’s a beautiful song.

Radiohead pair join CD collaboration for Oxfam (From Oxford Mail)

MEMBERS of Oxford band Radiohead have joined forces with musicians from around the world to record new songs for the Oxford-based charity Oxfam.

In 2001, Crowded House singer Neil Finn invited friends in the music business to join him on tour.

The shows resulted in a live album entitled Seven Worlds Collide featuring Radiohead drummer Phil Selway and guitarist Ed O’Brien among the musicians.

Now they have rejoined Mr Finn to make a new recording with former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, KT Tunstall and members of alt-country rockers Wilco.

Mr Selway’s song, his vocal and songwriting debut, is called The Ties That Bind Us. The album, The Sun Came Out, goes on sale in Oxfam shops from August 31.

Mr Finn said: “What will make these sessions particularly meaningful is that all the proceeds of this recording will go to support the continuing great work of Oxfam International.”

The musicians will also play a one-off show at Dingwalls in London on August 11.

The show will feature Finn, O’Brien and Selway, along with Glenn Kotche and John Stirratt of Wilco, and will preview tracks from the album.

Stuart Fowkes, a spokes-man for Oxfam, whose headquarters are in Cowley, said: “This is an exciting project and I’m sure Radiohead fans will lap it up.

“The project is the brainchild of Neil Finn, who has been a longtime supporter of Oxfam in New Zealand.

“Apparently he invited musicians over and told them ‘all you need to bring is a song’. Phil, who is well known in Oxfordshire for his work with the Samaritans, has actually penned a song himself.”
